President's Message

Greetings and welcome to the website of Tau Xi Zeta chapter – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Known as, “The Finer Women of Forest Park”, our chapter was chartered on April 4, 2004 in service to the West Side of Chicago, Illinois and its surrounding western suburbs. I am grateful you stopped by to visit with us and learn more about the work we continue to do in the great name of ZETA!

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded upon the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood with the intention of charting a course of action towards positive change for the future, to raise the consciousness of the African-American community, and to encourage the highest standards of scholastic achievement.

For over one hundred years, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has paid it forward by organizing impactful, community-based activities focused on the improvement of economic welfare, access to quality educational resources, and the overall physical and mental health of residents in neighborhoods across the globe.

Keeping in step with our global initiatives, Tau Xi Zeta (TXZ) chapter hosts and participates in various service projects throughout the year, including programming related to Breast Cancer Awareness, National Voter Registration, and the March of Dimes.  Some of our initiatives focus on the following:

  •   Elder Care – Programming focused on the care for senior citizens
  •   Prematurity Awareness – Programming focused on maternal and infant health
  •   Adopt-A-School – Programming focused on the welfare of local school(s) and the educational resources for students
  •   Triple Negative Breast Cancer – Programming focused on educating the public on the specifics, signs and symptoms of this form of breast cancer and how it differs from other types of invasive breast cancer
  •   Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) – An interactive national service program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, ‘designed to enhance, cultivate and empower participants to develop health-promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Specific to the population groups; Women, Youth, Seniors, Men, and International Women of Color’.

It is my hope you will enjoy your visit here with us, learning about the commitment that we, “The Finer Women of Forest Park”, hold in our hearts for our community. It is my hope, as you visit each page, you can sense our commitment and labor of love – the fabric of our organization – that has grown our membership worldwide for over 100 years.  It is also my hope that upon visiting our site, you are inspired. In the spirit of paying it forward, I personally invite you to take small actions that can deliver a big impact: attend your local PTA and city council meetings; engage with elected officials and law enforcement officers; VOTE, and support and encourage the women in your own community to become more involved in the local, national and global political process.

Lastly, I invite you to become a part of the TXZ family. Come back to visit us often and learn about local and upcoming events sponsored by our chapter. You’re welcome to follow us on Facebook, on Instagram, and to even contact me personally: [email protected].  Your support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to serving YOU.

Sincerely,

Alicia Brown
